COLORADO AUTHORS' LEAGUE POETRY AWARDS 1943-2007
April is National Poetry Month and, as one way of celebrating it in Colorado, here is a list of all the known winners of Colorado Authors' League Awards for poetry between 1943 and 2007. A few titles haven't been recorded in our files, and a few years' worth of awards are presently missing from the archives, but here's a long list of distinguished works we've honored over our history. Mary Coyle Chase
Famous for her invisible rabbit, Harvey, Mary Coyle Chase was a Denverite, Pulitzer Prize winner and long-time CAL member.

CAL's Origins
CAL Historian Bob Root traces the origins of the Colorado Authors' League back to informal meetings beginning in 1919.
Arthur Carhart, CAL's First President
CAL's first president was also the first landscape architect hired by the U.S. Forest Service. A writer of fiction and non-fiction, he was work was "grounded in personal experience and a passion for preservation."
